About Crystal Haynes

I am an Emmy award winning journalist with nearly 20 years of broadcast experience. My Priced Out, and Boston's Black History series on Boston 25 won Northeast Regional Emmy and Salute to Excellence Awards from the National Association of Black Journalists.

Civic engagement is extremely important to me. I am the most recent past Chair of the Arlington Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration Committee, former Arlington Human Rights Commissioner, member of the Boston Association of Black Journalists, NAACP, and am trained facilitator in gender-based violence prevention and incidents in racism through Northeastern University's Center for Sport in Society. I am also a part-time lecturer in Northeastern's School of Journalism. I am also a board member for the March of Dimes of Massachusetts.

I hold a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism from Emerson College, and a Masters degree in Media Advocacy from Northeastern University's College of Arts, Media and Design. I grew up in Springfield, MA, but have called Arlington home since 2017 joining my husband and his family who have lived in town for more than four generations.
